Wa’tkwanonhwerá:ton!  /  Greetings!

Onkwawenna Kentyohkwa (Our Language Group) is a community-based organization that teaches Kanyen’keha (the “Mohawk” language) to adults on the Six Nations Grand River Territory near Brantford, Ontario. But we do not just teach language, we create speakers. Our success is due to the root-word method we use and the length of the program.

We are revising our website and adding more
new content. Please be patient.

We will put our bulletin board back up soon so that anyone can read and post messages about language and language learning. We will also put our language resources back on-line -- sound files, stories and videos.

We will also post the link to the computerized learning program we are slowly establishing.

In the meantime, we have posted a photo album of our Second-Year students lying corn and making corn soup.

Due to a funding cutback we will be conducting only the Second-Year Program this coming school year. Our programs operate six hours per day, five days a week, for an eight-month school year. We also offer three Third-Year Programs. Students receive some university credits for successfully completing the program.

In the past we conducted a Media Program to produce Kanyen’keha materials for broadcast on radio and television and in local newspapers. Those materials will be reposted in our resource archives.
