We are sorry to say that there will be no online courses for the 2024/2025 school year. Our language commission has decided to switch platforms in order to better serve all of our languages here in Ohsweken. Any updates for the new online course launch date will be shared here.

At Onkwawenna Kentyohkwa we use the “root word method” to teach how the language works rather than have students memorize lists of words. We create Mohawk-language speakers who learn to think in the language and express themselves. Although we are not a teacher-training institution, many of our immersion grads have gone on to teach the language at our school, other schools and universities, as well as to their own children at home. Our online program aims to adapt the immersion program material for an online setting by incorporating audio and video components for students who can’t take the immersion program.
Our main funder for this course is the Six Nations Language Commission.
